One loop out from the station and back, about 3.5 km of actual walking spread over the whole afternoon. No fixed times below — just the order. Eat and stop for coffee whenever it suits; the only clock that matters is the cathedral closing at 17:00.

1. Look at Antwerpen-Centraal firstTen minutes on the domed hall and the stacked platforms before going anywhere. Bags into the lockers.
2. Walk in along De Keyserlei and MeirThe modern centre giving way to the old city. A five-minute look inside Stadsfeestzaal if anyone fancies it — no shopping yet.
3. GroenplaatsWhere the trams and the pedestrians mix, and the cathedral spire comes into view.
4. Cathedral of Our LadyThe one proper indoor stop. Two Rubens altarpieces, The Elevation of the Cross and The Descent from the Cross, plus the nave and the side chapels. €12 adults, free under 18. Closes at 17:00.
5. Grote MarktCity hall, the guild houses, the Brabo fountain. Duck into Vlaeykensgang if it appears, but don’t go hunting for it.
6. Het Steen and the ScheldtOutside only — the castle wall, Steenplein and the river walk. The point is feeling that Antwerp is a port, not an inland town.
7. Nationalestraat and Wilde ZeePast ModeNatie, then Kammenstraat, then the Wilde Zee lanes. Not four separate sights, one walk. Into a shop if something catches.
8. Theaterplein, then back down MeirTheaterplein, Hopland, Schuttershofstraat. If legs have gone, cut this and go straight from Wilde Zee to Hopland — saves 15 minutes and loses nothing.
